Opera & Theatre director of works across Europe and the USA, James trained as an actor at RADA before moving into directing. With a special interest in creating content that fuses disciplines, previous projects have included: the UK Theatre Award winning ballet of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible with Scottish Ballet, productions with Grégoire Pont for Opera de Lyon mixing video, animation and opera of Ravel’s L’enfant et Les Sortileges (broadcast on France 5 TV), L’Heure Espagnole and Orff’s Der Mond, work with Terry Gilliam and Damon Albarn in London and Paris, pieces for the BBC Proms for Radio 3 and BBC 4 broadcast, productions for the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos in Lisbon and premiering new works, including the opera Silent City for the European Capital of Culture 2019.
